Waste Industry M&A Leader Matthew Brunstrum

Matthew Brunstrum is the founder and chief executive officer of Chicago’s Lakeside Acquisitions, a leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory firm serving clients in the waste and recycling industry. Under the guidance of Matthew Brunstrum, Lakeside Acquisitions focuses on optimizing sales processes for the owners of private businesses. Industry publications such as Waste Dive have featured the organization.

Before establishing Lakeside Acquisitions in 2023, Matthew Brunstrum gained transactional advising experience as a senior M&A advisor at a specialized mergers and acquisitions advisory firm for more than five years. During his time in this position, he managed the needs of both buyers and sellers across a broad spectrum of industries. He previously served as M&A director at a publicly traded waste management business valued at $6 billion. He has closed more than 100 deals during his career.

Academically, Matthew Brunstrum studied business at Indiana University in Bloomington. When he is not driving operations at Lakeside Acquisitions or attending annual industry meetings such as Waste Expo, he enjoys staying active through cycling, fishing, and boating.
